How it works
Four stages, usually 60 to 90 days from first conversation to money in your account. You can stop at any point, and nothing is owed unless a sale closes.
Tell us about the policy
A few minutes on the phone or on our form. We need the death benefit, the type of policy, the insured's age, and a general sense of whether their health has changed since the policy was issued. No documents, no medical records, no exam.
We tell you whether it looks likely to qualify
Most policies do not. If yours is one of them we will say so on that first call rather than keep you in a process that goes nowhere. There is no cost either way, and nothing about your existing coverage changes.
A licensed broker takes it to the market
If it looks viable, we refer the file to a licensed life settlement broker. The broker collects your medical records, orders an independent life expectancy report, and puts the policy in front of multiple institutional buyers so those buyers bid against one another rather than against your lack of alternatives.
You look at the offers and decide
The broker brings you what the market returned. You can accept an offer, ask them to push back, or walk away and keep your policy exactly as it is. If you do sell, ownership transfers, the buyer takes over the premiums, and you are paid.
If it is a viatical settlement, the process differs
Where there is a terminal or chronic diagnosis, the transaction is a viatical settlement rather than an ordinary life settlement. It needs a physician's certification on top of the medical records, it is regulated separately, and it usually moves faster because everyone involved understands the urgency. How viatical settlements work.
Where Zen Cash sits in this
We handle the first two stages. We are not the buyer and we are not licensed to broker the sale, so the third stage belongs to the broker, who is the party that actually represents you. We are paid by that broker, and only if a sale closes.
Start at step one.
Tell us about the policy and we will tell you whether it is worth going further.
